Why are eyebrows so important?

When I was little I was asked in school, what I thought was the most important feature on someone’s face. My classmates named off all kinds of features and their reasoning. Some of them were valid and some were more hilarious. I answered that I thought eyes were the most important feature because that was the first thing I noticed when I looked at someone. My 3rd grade teacher was impressed by my answer. Fast-forward to my adult life and I would have had the same answer up until 2.5 years ago when I started researching Microblading. At the time, it was not known by most people and much of my information came from Europe, where it began almost 6 years ago. If you ask me now my answer is, Eyebrows are the single most important feature on your face. Eyes come in second. The first thing I notice about someone is still their eyes… some things never change.

No one in my class answered, eyebrows. I would have never known how important eyebrows would be as a child. However, I believe that eyebrows are the single most important feature of your face because it frames every aspect of your face. Eyebrows bring dramatic attention to your eyes, nose, lips, chin, and forehead whether they are perfectly shaped or not. Having eyebrows that perfectly frame your facial profile and structures, can vividly improve your appearance in modifying the way your features are looked at. Does that make sense? Stay with me.

Eyebrows can flatter your face or insult it. Having the best eyebrow shape brings attention to your entire eye area and can make them appear wider, bigger, brighter, and younger (yay!). It can balance the shape and size of your nose. This can be very helpful for someone who has a wide or long nose. It can balance a sharp jawline in making it a profound feature; think Angelina Jolie ladies! It can flatter the cupid’s bow of your lips, even if it is small and flat. It can flatter your forehead by drawing attention away from it’s size. Consider Tyra Banks and what she self-proclaims has having a “Tweetie bird forehead” and that she is a beautiful women despite it. She has beautiful, bold eyebrows that balance it just right.

It may sound vain to focus on one area of our face, but I implore you to understand the importance of eyebrows and how it affects the way we look at ourselves and others. By focusing on our eyebrows and finding the perfect shape, width, length, arch, and thickness that aligns with your God given beauty and understanding how that will always dominate and dictate the rest of our facial features; you’ll look at yourself differently. Eyebrows are the focal point of your face! Speaking of which, focusing on one area of our faces vs. all of them; putting on makeup, nail polish, accessories, it’s all some level of vanity, so don’t let anyone make you feel bad about the eyebrows you have and the eyebrows you desire. In fact, don’t let anyone (including yourself) make you feel bad for discussing the things, we as women, think and feel when it comes to our insecurities, our beauty, and our self esteem. I can tell you not worry about your appearance, don’t worry about what others think, and that beauty comes from the inside; something we are all blatantly aware of. Despite that truthful -positive talk, you are mostly likely going to wake up sometime this week and still put on some kind of liquid or powder foundation. Still Accentuate your eyes with some mascara and perfect your pout with lipstick. Maybe paint your nails? It all falls into the same category. To each their own. I’m not here to judge one women on the things they do to put their best face forward vs. another. I do hope we all position ourselves into putting our hearts and enormous amounts of grace forward every day as much as we do putting our best face forward. We are all a work in progress, so let’s make a pact -No judgement, no negative self talk and feelings of guilt, okay?

Focusing on your eyebrows will remove the worry surrounding all other aspects of your unique physical make up. With perfectly shaped eyebrows tailored to your face, suddenly, you won’t try to cover up your forehead anymore. Or cover your not so perfect eyebrows with bangs. You won’t worry about your “big nose”.  You won’t worry about that “manly” jaw. You suddenly won’t worry about all the things you don’t like about your face and you won’t spend as much time in the beauty aisle, looking at magazines, and comparing your beauty to another (something we have all done at some point in our lives far more than we would care to admit) You’ll look at your entire face differently. Do you realize how wonderful that is? Even if you are the most confident person, you still view yourself with a critical lens. What seemed so awful to you before, won’t seem so awful anymore. You’ll be able to admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own; isn’t that a powerful and beautiful trait to wake up with and bring with you every day?
